I am a doctoral candidate in History at the University of London, and Visiting Lecturer at the University of Roehampton. I also deliver courses in the Scholars Programme for the Brilliant Club in schools across London and Essex have been an A-level and GCSE humanities tutor for five years and previously worked 4 years as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant at various schools in London, where I also delivered lessons in PSHE and Citizenship. I have degrees at Masters` level (History) and Bachelor`s (History and Politics) from Goldsmiths University.

Experience: My lessons take the form of seminars directed by student questions. I like to engage the student with visual and textual sources, and direct the querent to find their own answers. I like to encourage a passion for history by showing a positive, can-do attitude myself. I am undertaking a PhD in History at Goldsmiths University of London concerning Sports and Identity, having earned my MA in History and BA in History and Politics from the same institution and well as lecturing in Global Community and Perspectives at the University of Roehampton.I have a passion for problem solving and many years working with young people in both formal and informal settings,am I have also hold a HND in Social Studies and an NVQ Level 3 in Advice and Guidance. My final aim is always to empower students to take control of their own learning and fulfill their potential. Working with all major exam boards my previous students have gone on to study at competitive universities and high achieving schools in the state and independent sectors. I am comfortable working alongside parents and educational providers to ensure best practice and outcomes for students and am comfortable with teaching face to face as well as aids such as Zoom and Bramble when teaching online.

Desmond has been working with my daughter for some weeks. He has a calm teaching style, is very knowledgable about his subject and offers her additional support by making himself accessible to answer any queries via email or telephone in between lessons.
