Information about Louisa

Hi, I am currently a Research Chemist based at AkzoNobel in Gateshead.

I have recently completed my PhD in chemistry which I obtained with The University of Sheffield through a fellowship from the Royal Commission of 1851.

I graduated from Northumbria University with a 1st class Bachelors of Science (Hons.) which i did part time whilst working in industry in 2016. This meant I have worked in the chemical industry gaining real life experience for 12 years now.

I am friendly, approachable and understanding which I think is vital to provide good quality tutoring. I can be flexible with teaching methods and I’m happy for students to choose how the sessions are structured and exactly what material is covered. I will always ask to come meet the student before the first lesson to understand what they are struggling with, their goals and most importantly, if they are happy with me as a tutor which I feel is key.

Availability: Weekday evenings and weekends.

Willing to travel: 3 miles

Experience: I have taught quite a few students in the last couple of years and all have made me so proud of their results. Each and every one of them improved grades, some have jumped up to 5 levels which made my year!

During my degree I provided unpaid tutoring many students with GCSE, A-level and degree problems which i knew.

I have also in the past taken on unpaid tutoring in report writing to help university students structure reports.

For many years, I have attended a youth group weekly, looking after many girls between 5-16, teaching them valuable skills which they can use in everyday life ranging from cooking and general household help, to crafts, to mental health. This is something i thoroughly enjoy, and i will regularly help the girls out with homework or exam questions they are struggling with, which they bring in for me to provide help with.

Absolutely fantastic tutor! Can not find a fault. My daughters ability, and confidence, is improving week by week. Louisa is friendly, approachable and is making Maths fun. She is organised, well planned and has appropriate resources for every session. Throughout the session she is constantly assessing the learning and adapts the pace and content of the session appropriately. All sessions are child centred and focused on my child`s requirements. Would recommend Louisa as she is fantastic.

Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Louisa, she’s helped my son progress in a very short space of time and he’s very engaged in his lessons. Thank you!
