Information about Eleanor
I`m an experienced tutor with a BA in Philosophy from the University of Cambridge, and a Master`s from the University of Edinburgh. I have been teaching Maths and Philosophy for eight years, both in and out of schools (including Basil Paterson Secondary and Tutorial College in Edinburgh, where I`ve taught N4, N5 and GCSE/IGCSE Maths, as well as Higher Philosophy).
My students have excellent success rates (some have improved by as much as three grades!) and I make sure that my lessons are clear and engaging, as well as tailored to the individual student. I`ve worked with students with a range of learning difficulties, including dyslexia and dyspraxia, and I`ve developed teaching approaches to help with the issues that these can cause.
Availability: Most weekdays (daytime or evening slots). I`m happy to teach from home or to travel to the tutee (depending on location).
Willing to travel: 3 miles
Experience: I`ve been tutoring privately for the past eight years, as well as working in schools. My experience of working in schools/colleges is as follows:
August 2012-present: Basil Paterson Secondary and Tutorial College - Teacher of Maths and Philosophy
June - July 2011: Hartismere High School - Teacher of Religious Studies, Philosophy & Ethics
December 2010 - June 2011: Hartismere High School - Maths Tutor
April - June 2010: Open Academy, Norwich - Maths Tutor
I have experience of working with students of a wide range of ages and abilities, and also with SEN pupils.
