I am a high achieving dental student at the University of Bristol, currently teaching across online platforms.

The lessons that I will provide will be tailored towards your needs. This will be through evidence based methods to boost your grades. This involves active recall, spaced repetition and interleaving of different topics.Teaching is something I feel very passionate about as the ability to help students to understand concepts is invaluable. From my experience, most of these techniques were not taught in school. In class, students are taught the topics, however they are hardly tested on the knowledge which often leads to lower attainment. I adopt a teaching strategy where questioning is part of the backbone of the lesson, as it is more engaging than a lesson that is presented as a lecture. This teaching style is geared towards long term retention of your memory which is exactly what is required for deeper learning and equips you for taking exams. Personally, I can approve of these teaching techniques as I have ranked in the top 10 for the end of year exam in Dental School.

What is great about this is that it helps you become an independent learner whereby you are in control. Students can fall under the illusion of mastery of topics, however the way I structure my lessons will allow you to have a more accurate understanding of what topics you are good at and what topics needs more attention.

Experience: I have been mentoring/tutoring students Maths, Biology and Chemistry since 2016.

In sixth form I was part of a mentoring scheming helping students with a range of abilities in KS3 with Mathematics. Each student is different so I learnt to adapt my teaching skills to cater the needs of each individual, whether that be changing the pace of my lessons or providing an alternative method to solve a problem.

During my gap year, I was teaching GCSE Maths, Biology, Chemistry and English Literature to a group of students in a tutor centre. I assisted a secondary school maths department in marking papers for Mathematics so I could see where common errors were made in students, even finding errors in mark scheme sometimes! I also tutored KS1 students in Mathematics and English, this included a child who was autistic. This experience was challenging and rewarding at the same time as I had to adjust my teaching style in order to boost his confidence first. Once his confidence was up, I could see his skills flourish on paper. In addition, during parents evening his school teacher had praised him for his improved confidence in lessons. Priceless moments like this, drives me to teach more students.
