Information about Krissie

If you need Science, Maths, History or Politics help I am the tutor for you. Please note with the current COVID-19 restrictions I am only offering online sessions but do get in contact to see how I can help you stay on track without your normal schooling.

I have nine years experience tutoring students from toddlers to adult learners. I teach Maths, Chemistry, Biology and Physics up to GCSE as well as A-Level History and Politics. I also teach adult learners re-siting exams for professional qualifications including equivalency tests and functional skills.

I tutor students from the following schools allowing me to tailor my sessions to the students more effectively: Harris Academy (Rainham and Chafford), Campion, Coopers, Hall Mead, Ockendon, William Edwards, Ormiston Academy, Havering College, Drapers, Palmer`s, Westcliff Grammar School, Sacred Heart, Sanders, Havering Sixth Form and Gaynes. If your school is not on this list do not worry as I cover most exam boards and always looking for a new challenge!

I am often employed to teach students more than one subject which I have found works very well as the student only has to adapt to one tutoring style rather than several and I can pick up on general working habits that are not subject specific. I believe in creating an atmosphere where students are not afraid to be wrong and ask questions. Moreover I personalise each session with revision packs, subject specific worksheets and document each session so you can see what we have covered and when. I make home visits but I also teach small groups in schools if and when required. I am also experienced with students with specific learning difficulties acting as a mentor at university level.

I have 3 degrees in History from the University of London: a first class bachelors degree with honours, a masters (with distinction) in Modern History and a MPhil. Although my degrees are focused on History I have A grade A-levels in Biology, Chemistry and Politics as well as A in As Physics. In addition I am a qualified higher education teacher. I have also taught several modules at both under and postgraduate level at Royal Holloway, University of London and originally began tutoring to supplement my studies but is now my full time job.

More importantly I am a friendly, warm, approachable person with a love for working with young people. I strongly believe in the benefits of working one-to-one with students to get the best out of them and aim to foster a good working relationship. I love sports and current affairs something I often bring into my sessions to help the students relate to the topics at hand and give them a more rounded education.

I bring all my own worksheets/past papers so all you need is a pen and a willingness to learn. I also give my students free access to all my resources online so they can access work when they need it not just when I am free.

I have the most recent GCSE and A-Level results for my students available on request. I can also provide references if required.

Please do feel free to contact me with any queries or questions.

Availability: I have quite a bit of availability at the moment because of the recent COVID-19 precautions but I am currently only offering online sessions until the restrictions have been relaxed.

You can also book sessions in now for the next academic year or over the summer to help bridge the gaps that will be left after this period of uncertainty is over.

I am not so happy being chased continuously by tutor hunt for feedback when I have already submitted feedback but we are very pleased with Krissie so far. Krissie has only been tutoring our daughter for a couple of months but my daughter feels very comfortable with her and her confidence in maths is really starting to grow.

Krissie has just started tutoring our 14 year old daughter. I am already impressed by Krissies calm attitude and her ability to relate to my daughter both socially and as she was teaching her. Would definitely recommend Krissie for any other parents looking to have their teenager tutored.
