Information about Jeremy

Getting into Drama school is a difficult challenge but very possible. It certainly takes some talent but also it takes determination, persistence and hard work.

When I applied when I was 18, I had no help and no real industry insight. A sheltered boy from Devon, I didn`t understand the industry and how it worked. I assumed that because my teachers told me I was good, Rada would welcome me with open arms.

I was put off by the application processes and the sheer level of competition. i applied to a few schools but didn`t get anywhere. I then took a place at Manchester University to study history.

It wasn`t until a few years later, when I really turned my mind to it, that I obtained several places and had several more recalls. I ended up taking a place at the Oxford School of Drama - partly because I loved everything about the place but also because I was offered a grant.
The Oxford School of Drama is a very prestigious Drama school and trained the likes of Claire Foy, Charity Wakefield and Baboo Ceasey. I am now working in the industry as an actor, voice-over artist and dramaturg. Most recently I have been involved in projects at the theatre 503, Upstairs at the gatehouse, the SOHO theatre and the Tristan Bates.

I can`t guarantee places but my sessions will help prepare you for drama school auditions. I can help you choose speeches, workshop them and galvanise the mental approach necessary to have a susseful run at drama school auditions.

Availability: I am free most weekdays - please get in touch to arrange some sessions.

Experience: I am an actor/creative who graduated from The Oxford School of Drama last year. I am represented by the acting and commercial agency Chase personal management. I have voice representation from icantalk ltd. Since graduating, I have been supporting my acting endeavours with employment at Sharky and George, where I run Children’s parties. Most recently I have been in plays at the Theatre 503 and Upstairs at the Gatehouse. I have also developed my film work and starred as the male lead in a short - `She dances` which is currently touring the festival circuit.

During my training at Oxford we were taught various textual approaches, including those of Uta Hagen, Stanislavski, Meisner, and John Barton. We based most of our vocal work on the Linklater method, as well being taught the accent methodologies of Edda Sharpe and Jan Haydn Rowles. In movement, we covered a variety of practitioners such as Laban, Michael Chekov, and Feldenkrais. We also undertook modules on Shakespeare, Musical theatre, Clowning, and Mask work.

It is also since graduating that I have been carefully developing my book, The Actors Notebook. The Idea for the Actors Notebook stemmed from the challenges I have encountered preparing for auditions and roles. I believe there is a more effective way to synthesise the work I have learnt at Drama School. The book is therefore designed with young actors, like me, in mind.

Prior to my time at Drama school, I studied History and Economics at the University of Manchester. Here, in spite of my dyslexia, I developed my writing skills and graduated with a 2:1.
