Information about Jack

I graduated with first class honours in Music from Bristol University and have five years experience teaching.

After University I joined a signed band, played a few UK headline tours and countless other festivals including Glastonbury. I`ve recorded several E.P`s and two studio albums and worked with producers Bruno Ellingham, Stew Jackson and Alex Pilkington.

I will qualify as a coach with The Coaching Academy in 2019 and specialise in the psychology of performance. I offer performance coaching separately but I also work with my drum and voice students to reduce nerves and bring out the joy of playing music whilst onstage. If you`ve ever felt like you`ve prepared well for a performance but then let yourself down on stage because of nerves or a negative mindset, then I`m the right teacher for you.

I am not one of these teachers who spends half the lesson demonstrating! You will be on the kit 90% of the time; I will guide you and allow you to experiment and develop your own style of playing.

I believe in creating a solid foundation in technique (I`m happy teaching you French, Moeller or orthodox grip) but as soon as possible applying this technique to songs, playing along to tracks and experimenting with grooves.

Once I`m happy that you have the basics down, I will be lead by what you want to work on, help you to set goals and move towards them. I believe a good lesson should be a sharing experience. I will always ask you what you`ve been listening to and suggest bands or drummers to expand your horizons.

Above all I teach my students how to play for the song and how to play with other musicians. The most important thing to me as a teacher is that you can apply all the skills you learn so that you can play with other people and develop your love of music.
