Information about Matthew
Hi! I`m Dr. Matt, and I`m currently working as a postdoctoral research associate in comparative genetics. I recently passed my PhD viva after studying molecular virology (looking at the influenza A virus), which also involved extensive cell biology research. Before that, I competed my MSc also in the virology field, and my BSc in biomedical science. During my PhD, I spent some time teaching A level biology and chemistry to small groups of sixth form students at a secondary academy in Gillingham. Before starting my PhD study, I worked as a science technician in a South London secondary school - so I have some perspective on the curriculum also.
Availability: I am available from 5.30pm to 9pm Monday to Thursday evenings inclusive.
Willing to travel: 8 miles
Experience: I have experience tutoring A-Level chemistry and biology, with biology being my strong point. I also studied French and Physics to A-Level, so the potential for some light conversation in French or general physics is also possible! I have a good grasp of the curriculum, especially how examiners think. Being able to pass your GCSE or A-Level examinations is as much (or more) about your ability to answer questions, as it is about your subject knowledge. I can help you with both your understanding of the subject, and exam technique.
