I am Amy, a qualified primary school teacher, working in inner city London. Friendly, enthusiastic and patient, I set high expectations for pupils so that they can achieve their full potential.

Lessons will vary depending on whether you are looking for support on learning English as an additional language, GCSE English or additional tuition to support primary level reading, writing and / or maths. We will discuss this in better detail ahead of time so that I can plan lessons tailored to suit the needs of you / your child.

During term time, I have a class of children to teach and on some evenings I tutor adults and GCSE students. I have currently have availability for one more student and in the summer I will be able to offer more sessions.

Most lessons will include elements of retrieval, speaking and listening and practical activities. Lessons will be engaging and there will be plenty of time to practise a skill to develop confidence. If you are looking for maths tuition, we will follow a mastery approach supporting your child on building up from fluency, to application to challenge.

I set high expectations for all my students, while also bringing warmth and humour to the learning environment. Lessons are differentiated and tailored based on pupils’ levels and needs and I use different strategies to help motivate and inspire learners.

Experience: I am an experienced primary educator, literacy lead and EAL teacher. Having taught many students across different ages, levels and abilities, I am adept at catering content to the specific needs of the individual. I am a mentor to student teachers, as well as an assessment moderator for the borough of Hackney.
