Information about Elliot

I am a friendly and experienced tutor in maths and sciences. I understand that for many students, the main difficulty with these subjects lies in a lack of confidence, and with an approachable and flexible teaching style, am able to boost this to unlock hidden potential. I aim to strike a balance between "teaching to the exam" so students perform well when it`s crunch time, and engendering a sense of enthusiasm for the subject to keep motivation and morale high. Most importantly, I am able to listen to students and tailor lessons to suit their individual needs.

I have 12 A* grades at GCSE, before going on to study Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Maths at A-level, achieving A*A*A*A*. I graduated from the University of Cambridge in Natural Sciences (Biological), and recently completed an MSc in Psychological Research at Oxford University. I am currently a PhD student in Computational Neuroscience (i.e., I spend my days messing about with computers, trying to make them "think").

I am enthusiastic about science and maths (of course!) but also all kinds of subjects, including music, art, and cookery. Most recently, I have been getting into climbing, and grappling with the endless tribulations of life on a narrow boat. I never knew what subjects I wanted to study for A-level or at degree level until the last minute, but have no regrets about the choices I ended up making, so I am always happy to provide advice about these crucial decisions.
