Information about Claude

Hi. I`m a jazz pianist who teaches all types of instrumentalist and singers. Since January 2000, I`ve taught all ages (6+) and all levels of experience, from beginner to advanced. Although I specialize in jazz, I happily teach within most genres of western music. I accept absolute beginners on piano and voice, and occasionally, other instruments, if they have at least some basic facility (i.e. can play a song or two and/or play the chromatic scale and/or the major scale in a few keys). If that sounds like you, please get in touch and put your case! :) I would look forward to hearing from you.

Although I live in east London, I welcome students from the entire Greater London area and distance learners from further afield, e.g. via Skype. More specifically, I live in Leytonstone, a short walk from its Central Line tube station, though if you prefer to drive, parking is free and available on my street.

Availability: I have a complex yet somewhat flexible teaching schedule, so when I teach at home, I typically do so on weekday evenings and some days, during the day. I prefer not to teach on weekends.

Willing to travel: Home Only

Experience: I’m DBS (CRB) certified, have an honours degree in music education, and qualified teacher status (QTS - to teach in schools and FE). I also have a qualification in lifelong learning. Importantly as well, I studied for many years with the renowned jazz saxophonist Warne Marsh. I`ve been committed to teaching music since 2000 and have many reference letters from a variety of my students, which are available to read in unedited form on my website, along with descri ptions of my teaching approach and `philosophies`, and a brief professional and personal biography.
