Information about Jade
I am a married Mum with two boys, that has always had a passion for education. My first love has always been English.
I work at a FE (Further Education College), and have previously working with Primary/Secondary aged school children.
I`m a qualified English and Business tutor, with significant experience of teaching and delivering English and Business for the following examination boards:
- AQA
- Edexcel
- OCR
- Cambridge
I believe that the ability to communicate effectively, and fluently is the key to achieving and gaining in confidence in their subject area.
All students prefer certain subjects, and I am by no means placing a higher value on English, but one of the key elements that underpins most academic achievement is a good command of written and spoken English.
My tutoring focuses on assessing individual needs, whilst inspiring students to connect with using language and literature in order to improve their academic and personal success.
I work with my students on a one to one basis, to gain an understanding of the challenges they face when it comes to applying linguistic skills.
English is about more than correct grammar and punctuation, it is about grasping literary tools and how they can help students develop a skilled sense of communication and written expression.
My focus can be on helping students improve their grades for GCSE English, as well as A-Level English.
I am to motivate students by involving them in the learning process, and using texts/ideas that interest them.
I believe the best way to learn, is to actively encourage shared participation in the learning process. Learning occurs in a number of different ways, so it is vital to identify a particular learning style to suit each person to ensure effective learning.
It is important to me that both the tutee and parents agree that I am the right tutor for their student, and visa versa.
Ultimately, I will not take on students that are not actively willing to engage in learning, as it can be counter intuitive to force learning on a student that does not want to learn.
Rarely does this occur, but it is important that parents and students alike have the opportunity to ensure that they are happy with their tutor before investing time and money into learning.
Once I am happy that everyone understands how I work, and have carried out an informal assessment of the student, I will agree a bespoke learning programme for my tutee.
Before tutoring begins, I provide a learning programme, with agreed learning goals and objectives, which I like to review with parents/tutees on a regular basis to ensure on-going and productive learning.
The student is integral to this process, as learning will ultimately take place with an agreed joined up working approach.

My daughter has settled extremely well with Jade. She is a fantastic teacher, she has patients and explains in detail. This is what motivates my daughter as her confidence has grown. Would recommend to anyone who is in need of English lessons.

Jade has been helping my son with English language for the past 9 months. After just a few sessions Jade had worked out his development points and worked on these. It was helpful that she linked her lessons with topics that my son was interested in - business, football related, books of interest etc. This really helped him to apply what he was learning. Her approach is very calm and patient and put my (very shy) son at ease. Thank you Jade.
