Information about Thomas

Hi, I`m Thomas, I’m an award-winning engineering graduate soon to begin my MPhil at the University of Cambridge, having graduated with First-Class Honours in Product Design Engineering from Loughborough University.
I have always been passionate about helping others learn and build confidence. Alongside almost five years of tutoring experience, I have taught STEM to children aged 5-13, where I progressed from teaching assistant to a core member of the teaching team. This experience has helped me develop a patient, supportive teaching style that adapts to every student`s individual learning needs.
Academically, I have consistently achieved at the highest level. I earned 100% in A-Level Product Design, alongside A grades in Mathematics and Physics, and achieved straight A.A grades across all 10 GCSEs. At university, I scored the highest dissertation across all engineering programmes and graduated with a final year mark of 81.8%.

I have received multiple prestigious awards, including the Innovation in Engineering Award from the Manufacturing Technology Centre, the James France Engineering Placement Prize, the IMechE Best Project Award, and the Geoff Kirk Young Members Award from the Institute of Engineering Designers.
Beyond academia, I completed a year-long placement at Sagentia, one of the UK`s leading technology and engineering consultancies, where I worked on cutting-edge medical technologies, including surgical robotics and diagnostic devices. Working in industry has strengthened my problem-solving skills and given me real-world examples that I bring into my teaching to make complex ideas engaging and relevant.

Whether you`re looking for support with KS1,2,3, GCSEs or A-Level Mathematics, Physics or Product Design, my goal is to help students not only improve their grades but also develop genuine understanding and confidence. I believe every student can succeed with the right guidance, and I tailor every lesson to match each learner`s pace, strengths and goals.
I understand that choosing a tutor is an important decision, and I pride myself on being reliable, approachable and fully committed to helping every student achieve their potential. Whether your child is aiming to boost their confidence, prepare for exams or secure top grades, I look forward to supporting them every step of the way.

Experience: I am an incoming MPhil student at the University of Cambridge, where I will study Industrial Systems, Manufacture & Management from October 2026. This prestigious postgraduate degree brings together engineering, manufacturing, business and leadership, teaching students how world-leading organisations design innovative products, solve complex engineering challenges and deliver large-scale technological projects.
Before Cambridge, I graduated from Loughborough University with a First-Class Honours degree in Product Design Engineering, one of the UK`s leading engineering degrees. Throughout my studies I consistently performed at the highest level, graduating with the highest dissertation mark across the entire engineering school and receiving multiple university prizes for academic excellence and innovation.
My achievements include the Innovation in Engineering Award, James France Engineering Placement Prize, BEng Final Year Project Prize, Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) Best Project Award, and the national Geoff Kirk Young Members Award for outstanding achievement and leadership in engineering.
Alongside my studies, I completed a year in industry as a Mechanical Systems & Design Engineer at Sagentia, a leading international engineering consultancy. During my placement I worked on cutting-edge medical technologies including surgical robotics, healthcare diagnostics and product development, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to take ideas from concept through to prototype testing. This real-world experience allows me to explain difficult technical and scientific concepts using practical examples that students can relate to.
Teaching has always been something I enjoy. As a member of the teaching team at STEM Den Camps, I designed and delivered engaging STEM activities for children aged 5–13, helping students build confidence while making science, technology and engineering fun and accessible. I quickly progressed from assistant to a core member of the teaching staff thanks to my enthusiasm and ability to explain challenging concepts clearly.
I tutor Mathematics, Physics, Product Design, Geography and provide general STEM support for students from primary level through to GCSE and A Level. I also assist with personal statements and university applications. Every lesson is tailored to the individual student, whether they are aiming to improve confidence, boost exam performance or achieve the highest grades.
Academically, I achieved A** in Product Design (100%), A in Mathematics and A in Physics at A Level, alongside 10 GCSEs, all graded A–A**. Having recently completed these qualifications myself, I understand both the content and the exam techniques needed to succeed.
My goal is to create a supportive, engaging learning environment where students develop confidence, enjoy learning and achieve their full academic potential. Whether your child needs help catching up, preparing for exams or stretching themselves beyond the classroom, I provide patient, structured tuition designed to deliver lasting results.
