Information about Charlie
I was a secondary science teacher for four years and then spent two years as a secondary maths teacher. From my teaching experience I have gained many skills such as communication, organisation and creativity. Teaching is about communicating a subject in way students can relate to. I enjoyed making creative lessons that could actively engage the students. One of my biggest strengths is building good rapports with students, parents and staff alike and I enjoyed the pastoral side of school life.
Recently I have been working in a agricultural research institute both in the field and in the laboratory. I left teaching to peruse a career in science however I do still enjoy teaching and regularly teach new staff and students various scientific procedures. While working here I have continued to work as a maths tutor.
I believe that working outside teaching has given me a useful insight as to how both science and maths can be used outside of the classroom.
Outside teaching I play music (violin and piano) and enjoy many sports such tennis, climbing, mountain biking, surfing and other outside activities.
Availability: I am available from 5pm monday-friday.
Willing to travel: 15 miles
Experience: During university I studied Biological sciences and then a PGCE in secondary science specialising in Biology.
I have taught science to a wide range of ages and abilities including KS3, BTEC and triple science courses. I enjoy teaching both biology and chemistry and have taught both to the triple science classes.
I have taught AQA and OCR specifications at KS4 and have been through coursework in both.
I have also taught maths at KS3 and foundation level at KS4 which I really enjoyed.
I have been a tutor primarily as a biology tutor but also as a foundation maths tutor.
