In January 2020 I graduated from the University of York with a MSc in Biodiversity, Ecology and Ecosystems with distinction. I also have a BSc in Biology (first class honours) from the University of York. I hope my enthusiasm for Biology will make tutoring sessions interesting and helpful!

Before starting tutoring sessions, I offer a discounted trial session so that I can discuss in more detail what students want to gain from tutoring sessions, ways in which they like to learn and the help I can provide. It gives students the opportunity to ask me any questions they may have and ensure that tutoring sessions are as helpful as possible for the student. It also allows students get an idea of my teaching style before committing to more tutoring sessions.

I think that a strong understanding of course content is important to be able to successfully answer questions in exams. So I will help students fully understand their biology course, especially any topics which they find particularly challenging. Exam-style question practice is also important to consolidate knowledge and build confidence in exam taking. I can also suggest different revision tips and techniques that I have found useful during my GCSEs, A-levels and degrees.

Experience: Since finishing my MSc in September 2019 I have been tutoring GCSE and A level students both in-person and online and have over 550 hours of tutoring experience. I am familiar with several exam boards including OCR, AQA, Edexcel and WJEC/Eduqas. I have also helped family and friends during their GCSEs and A-levels and supported coursemates throughout my masters and undergraduate degrees. I have relatively recently finished university so am aware of some of the challenges in understanding biological concepts and different ways to make these accessible to students.
