I have already tutored many children of all capabilities from primary school level up until A-level including for their 11+ entrance examinations, I am also part of the Jacari tutoring group at my university. Many tutors tend to be recent graduates or teachers and as such they tend to have forgotten what it was like to sit a GCSE or A-level exam and thus are out of touch with what students find hard and how to communicate their own thought process when approaching a problem. I believe that me being only 20 with my exams a little over two years ago i remember what a stressful period it was and i know what worked for myself and many of my friends.

With Maths especially I am a firm believe that practice is best, that is the philosophy that enabled me to perform well throughout my school career. I have achieved an A* at maths IGCSE level as well as an A* at A-Level maths also. I attended Queen Elizabeth`s school in Barnet which is recognised as a nationally leading state school and as such we learnt in a very effective and thorough way. I am now currently an undergraduate at the University of Bristol studying Mechanical engineering which as you would imagine involves a lot of Maths!

As a tutor I not only aim to teach but also provide practical examples of how it is useful in the world which I find encourages students to become more invested in it as often we do not have motivation to study something we do not see as practical and or useful.I believe that through my teaching students will not only noticeably improve but also learn new techniques to learn for themselves which sets up a base for higher and further education.
