Ben

Hey! I`m Ben, 22 years old, born in Germany and currently in my 3rd year studying the MChem Chemistry in the University of Oxford.

In 2016 I graduated from a German school with the equivalent of A*s in Chemistry, Physics, Maths, Politics&Economics and English and won prizes for excellence in both Chemistry and Physics. In that year I also successfully participated in a series of national physics competitions that eventually got me to present the project in Kobe - Japan where we won the prize for best international delegation. After having tutored for 2 years privately, I started doing so professionally for a local organisation in my town and have done so to date.

After school I studied Chemistry for a year in the Leibniz University Hanover while preparing for Oxford. I took both the IELTS language test and the Thinking Skills Assessment Chemistry (TSAC) for my application.

Since coming to study in the UK, I`ve achieved First Class grades in Prelims and in Part IA, placing 9th and 5th respectively, as well as in the Quantum Chemistry supplementary. I won the Turbutt Prize for Practical Chemistry and the AB InBev prize for Runner-Up for Part IA. My College has awarded me a scholarship for academic excellence and multiple prizes for the same reason.

In my free time I quite enjoy cooking & baking and walks through nature! My particular interest within chemistry is Solid State chemistry - trying to understand why certain solids are how they are.
