Information about Conor
Born on the same date as the assassination of John F. Kennedy, I`ve always had a passion for history and politics. I tutor in my spare time to improve my approach to my own teaching and to build new skills and methods of pedagogy.
I have previously studied History and International Politics at Queen`s University Belfast- a Russell Group institution- and have always had a keen interest in the themes and issues connected to both subjects.
I value a personalised approach that takes into account the needs of all students. I value exam structure and methodical approaches to essay-planning in written subjects and have a variety of scaffolding techniques to improve analysis and source questions.
Availability: Monday- Friday 3pm onwards
Saturday and Sunday all day.
Willing to travel: 50 miles
Experience: I have been teaching History and Politics at GCSE and A-Level for 4 years now as well as GCSE R.E for one year. Before this, I completed a masters in Conflict Studies at Queen`s University Belfast.
Marking exam papers for AQA, Edexcel and OCR has also allowed me to have an inside understanding of the requirements of assessment structure for the past three years.
I have experience tutoring students in preparation for GCSE and A-level exams across OCR, AQA and Edexcel. My students achieved, on average half a grade higher than predicted in 2019/20.
