Information about Orlaith
I am a recent Oxford University graduate with a first class degree in Law with French Law. During my four year degree, I studied French law at Université Paris II Panthéon-Assas and therefore had the opportunity to live in Paris for a year. I enjoyed visiting the museums and soaking up all of the culture of that beautiful city. I have always been very academic and have enjoyed studying - at school I won awards for getting the top GCSE results in my school and came top in three out of my four A Level subjects. I truly enjoyed the academic environment of Oxford and am keen to share any knowledge I have gained through my education. At A Level I studied History, French, Government and Politics and Mathematics.
My favourite hobby is reading - I read as much as possible and am particularly fond of classic literature at the moment. I feel confident tutoring in English language and literature - I have studied them to GCSE A Level both with A*s (receiving the award for top in my school in English language).
Availability: I am available most days during the day and in the evenings, if any student should seek after school or work tuition.
Willing to travel: Home Only
Experience: Whilst living in Paris, I tutored two young students in English. My first student was a thirteen year old girl and our classes focussed on her speaking ability and vocabulary. I realised that a good way of keeping her engaged in the lesson was by playing educational games with her. My second student was a sixteen year old boy who was not interested in playing games - I decided to discuss topical news issues with him in English.
I have worked with Oxford Summer Courses for two years. In my first year working with them I was a Student Helper. I directed students to their lectures and organised a law essay writing support class for them. In my second year I was an Assistant Course Director where I organised events for the students and controlled the course budget.
I was a mentor on the Oxford University access programme UNIQ. In this position, I attended lectures with the students and helped them prepare for their end of course tutorials and moots. This role suited me as throughout my degree I was involved in promoting access to Oxford - first as a Subject Ambassador who brought school groups on tours of colleges and ran Q&As and then as Access and Admissions Officer for my College`s Committee.
