Experience: My experience as a classroom teacher has highlighted the importance of one-on-one support and differentiated work for individuals. Through small-group and individual tuition, I find that a combination of targeted practice, assessment for learning and tailored explanation and exploration helps students to realise their potential and explore concepts of particular interest. The extra attention that I can offer as a tutor provides an opportunity to disentangle what may be stumbling blocks to my pupils` learning or motivation and to overcome them together.
