I am an extremely diligent and professional tutor, with a real focus on helping students to understand the subject and to learn the requisite skills needed for exams and coursework. Having tutored in both, I have up-to-date knowledge of the new demands for A Level since 2015 and a very sound understanding of the expectations of the new 9-1 GCSE. I have experience of all the examination boards for both GCSE and A Level and use the exam board materials and advice and incorporate these into my practice. In addition to this, I have also tutored for the International Baccalaureate. In terms of subject knowledge, I have taught most of the subjects offered in course units, from early modern to the twentieth century.

I realise that history as a subject isn`t always easy, and I provide handouts and other resources where necessary. I advise students on books to read to enhance their subject knowledge and encourage students to listen to podcasts and watch documentaries to help their understanding.

Most importantly, I love my subject. I can inject enthusiasm into the driest of topics and have a good sense of humour. I am patient and flexible and am happy to review and mark work when required.

Experience: Since qualifying as a teacher 20 years ago, I have gained a good deal of experience in helping students of all abilities to achieve a grade of which they can be proud. I have a good track record of helping to raise grades and the confidence of my students. I work well with both tutees and parents alike, forging good working relationships with both and I give effective target-driven feedback.

I am an experienced teacher and tutor and I also run my own adult education business.
