I am a professional saxophonist, experienced instrumental tutor and jazz educator. Graduating from Leeds College of Music in 2012, I have performed and educated widely in the North of England.

Availability: I teach Monday to Friday between the hours of 9:30am - 8pm.

Experience: I have maintained a healthy roster of private students of varying ages, abilities and ambitions for the past 15 years, as well as stints teaching at Artform`s North Leeds Music Centre and running jazz workshops at Headingely Arts and Enterprise Centre.

In doing this I have, among many other things: coached students with conservatoire ambitions, introduced solid intermediate players to the richness of the jazz tradition, overseen students develop from complete beginner to confident player and helped students to pro-actively overcome performance anxieties. I am a versatile, resourceful and creative teacher able to tailor the content of a lesson to the situation and individuals present, whether that be teaching in a mixed ability group as opposed to individuals, working with students with learning disabilities or helping students overcome physiological issues that may inhibit their saxophone playing. I have also led a number of student ensembles, encouraging individuals to make music with others, rehearsing them as a group and taking them out to perform.

It is of utmost importance to first understand the specific goals and further ambitions of the student as well as how they respond to certain forms of teaching. Once this is understood I begin to teach using an exciting, thought provoking and challenging selection of repertoire and a wide range of immersive practical exercises. Extra materials are given and further tasks to be completed between lessons are set at regular intervals. I strive not just to aid the tutees` progress with the subject but also to provide them with the universal skills of study, helping them to become well equipped, efficient and focused learners.
