Information about Abdul Nasir
I am a third year medical student at the University of Liverpool with a keen interest in biology and biochemistry. I have extensive knowledge of Biology GCSE and A Level content, specifications and exam technique, which I believe I can transfer to my tutees and help them to achieve their potential. By having achieved an A* in A2 Biology and studying medicine at university, I believe I am well versed in biological concepts and be able to teach them in a way that can be easily digested and understood by my tutees.
After not having achieved any offers or interviews in my first medicine application cycle and then three offers in my second, I can give accurate advice on what to do and what not to do as a prospective medical student. I am able to go through personal statements, UKCAT questions, interview preparation and also general advice, along with any questions or concerns anyone may have.
Football is something I love and enjoy playing regularly. Despite being a Manchester United fan, fans of other clubs can still be accommodated for. I also enjoy weightlifting in the gym and have been doing it consistently for 2 years. At university, I am also part of the Surgery Society committee as I hope to be a surgeon one day.
I will systematically go through the specification that accompanies the Biology GCSE/A Level. The order of topics can also be rearranged to what the tutee wants or the order in which he/she learns it at school to maximise the tutees learning experience. Lessons will be prepared and planned before with all the required diagrams and resources; at the end of each session, there will be an exam question in which the tutee will attempt and then will go through with me in a systematic and logical approach. Once every topic block has been taught, an end of topic exam will be given to the student at the end of the session to complete by the next. I will then mark it and go through it in the next session.
For the medical applicants, what I go through depends on what stage of the application process they are at. Sessions could be themed around Personal Statement refinement or UKCAT question practice; interview preparation is also another area, where medical ethics, situational judgement, preparing answers and also mock questions and interviews.
Availability: I will be available weekdays and weekends from 9am to 8pm, so I am very flexible with my times.
Willing to travel: 2 miles
Experience: I have been tutoring pupils in A level and GCSE Biology and Chemistry for 3 years. These lessons have been both in a one to one format as well as online. I also offer lessons in preparing prospective medical students applying for medical school- every single student that I have tutored in medical school applications (5 pupils in total) have received offers from at least one medical school, in most cases more than one offer. I also interview medical students as part of ConquerMedicine`s interview course and have been doing so for the past year.
