I grew up in west London, went to university in Leicester to study law (LLB (hons) and studied for the Solicitors Final Examinations at the College of Law in Chester. I qualified as a solicitor in February 1992 and have practised in property law ever since. In 2010 I took a year out to study for a masters degree in business administration (MBA) at the University of East Anglia (UEA) which I finished successfully. Now I am looking to retire and pursue other interests like this.

I am not a naturally gifted academic. Life would have been a lot easier for me if that had been the case! I have a determined approach to learning and believe that effort and energy is the route to success if you are an average student. There are no shortcuts - ultimately, you cannot get out more than you put in. Over the years in both my legal and academic experience I have come to appreciate that gaining a deep understanding of what you are being asked to do in any task is also vital to getting the best results - otherwise, you risk expending time and effort on areas that are not valued.

All my experience of teaching and advising is one-to-one/face-to-face which lends itself to the online teaching I am able to provide.

Availability: As a rule, I don`t work weekdays or evenings, I have free time during the weekends. I like to be prepared so please give me at least two clear working days` notice of a session plus as much information as you can about the subject you want to talk about.

Experience: Most of my formal teaching experience is with trainee solicitors, legal executives and paralegals who need to learn the law and practice of property law and the wider skills of how to be a lawyer.
