Information about Amelia
I am a doctoral student at the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Art, living in Norwich. I offer tutoring in History of Art and Fine Art to school students or individuals wishing to develop their skills. My personal approach is friendly and patient, and I possess experience teaching from GCSE to Masters level.
I currently hold a first class master`s degree from the University of Oxford in Visual, Material and Museum Anthropology. Before that, I received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Courtauld Institute of Art in London. I am currently carrying out research into the art and history of Central Africa. I am also a practicing artist.
MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
I believe that learning should be engaging and should take place both inside and outside the classroom. I also believe that learning should be an enjoyable and dynamic experience, and strive to make my lessons interactive and accessible. Lessons can be structured or unstructured and tailored to the individual needs / learning objectives of the student - whether that`s passing an exam or improving drawings kills.
I expect my students to work hard and actively engage with lessons and homework so that they can get the most out of the classes. I always encourage my students to challenge their own preconceptions and think critically about their work.
