Hi, my name is Darren.

A little bit about myself - I am a highly qualified, experienced, CRB cleared, specialist Business teacher with a 20 year track record of boosting student performance. I have taught GCSE, AS, A2, BTEC, HND and Apprenticeship courses over the years. I have helped students who were "written" off by their teachers gain excellent grades and rekindled their love of learning. I `know my stuff` and know how to help students reach their potential. I am a friendly approachable tutor who will try his best to get students the grades they deserve!

I tutor students of all abilities and levels. I am very patient and understanding and work at the correct pace and standard for the student. I take time to explain things clearly, and make sure students understand and are learning.

Whether 1-2-1 or online, students can be assured that I tailor teaching to suit the personality and learning style of the student.

When we first meet I ask the student to undergo an initial assessment to find out the grade they are currently working so we can identify their strengths and weaknesses. We then set to work boosting their grade.

I am familiar with all exam board syllabus and the new linear specifications. I am a current examiner for GCSE and A2 Business so know what the examiner is looking for and how to give him/her what they want! I am also a current Standards verifier for BTEC qualifications.

I can give students a strong understanding of their classwork and consolidate their learning on an ongoing basis.

I also run workshops and revision crash courses in GCSE, AS and A2 Business where we will go through all the topics, tackle past question papers and master exam techniques etc.

I can also help with BTEC Business Unit assignments and prepare for the BTEC external tests.

I have expertise in supporting students beat exam stress and anxiety. I with improve organisation and revision technique, especially within tight deadlines. I am very patient and understanding as I have faced these barriers myself (and overcome them) so I know from experience just what worries, stress and anxiety students are going through. Together we will beat it !

Away from the classroom I ran my own successful commercial training business for 8 years so I`ve not just `taught it` I`ve actually `done it` too. I am proud my business equipped over 300 young people with the skills to enter employment and/or gain promotion. I can help develop a `real world` mindset where students see beyond their next exam certificate to realise how their learning can benefit their future careers, life and well being in general (which, I believe, at the end of the day is the real reason for a good education)!
