Information about Bethany

Hi, I’m Bethany and I am available to teach Maths and Biology to A-Level standard, as well as Physics and Chemistry to GCSE.

I am currently studying Veterinary Medicine at Cambridge University, having recently achieved a high 2.i in my Bachelors Degree in Biological Sciences. In my A-levels, I attained three A*s in Maths, Biology and Chemistry and a further A in AS Physics, achieving the top A-level results in my school.

I have experience of taking the BMAT and UCAS application process, as well as oxbridge interviews. The oxbridge application and interview process can seem daunting and difficult. I believe the best way to overcome this is to become as familiar with the process as possible. I am very passionate about making the application and interview processes as transparent and fair to everyone, no matter your background or school.

During my first session with a new student I like to perform an initial (informal) assessment as a tool to understanding the challenging areas where the student needs the most support. After working with the student to decide which areas need the most attention, I then make lesson plans for the next few sessions to cover these topics. If the student is at a stage where they are working towards an exam, I strongly believe the use of exam practice questions within the tutoring sessions is beneficial. This is a general guide to how the sessions can be planned but of course this is adapted to the individual student and what will best help them.

Willing to travel: 30 miles

Experience: I have a strong passion for both the sciences and teaching. During my time at school, I tutored younger students who were completing their GCSEs and AS levels. I am comfortable adapting my teaching style to the needs of any individual and have had experience of tutoring students of varying abilities.

During University, I was the subject contact for Veterinary Medicine for my college. Part of this role was to help younger students understand the trickier concepts of the course. I thoroughly enjoyed this role as I was able to break down initially complex topics into scientific fundamentals, allowing the student to fully understand the basics of the problem and apply these methods to other situations.
