Information about Edward
French and German graduate, currently studying for my PGCE in German and French, offering language lessons for KS3/GCSE and above.
EFL and Maths GCSE also available.
I am a 26 year-old languages graduate with a joint honours degree in French and German from the University of Nottingham. The past two years, I worked in a Secondary School in Germany, teaching English and French (among other subjects) to German students.
I grew up in a family whose parents spoke and still speak multiple languages and so was exposed to French, German and Spanish from a very early age. I learned French at Primary School and have been studying German since Secondary School; all of which led to me reading Modern Languages at university. During my third year (year abroad), I spent six months working as an English Language Assistant for the British Council in Nieder-Olm, a small town in Rheinland-Pfalz.
I offer tuition in German and French, from beginners` to A-Level/International Baccalaureate (IB) standard. I am also able to tutor GCSE Maths.
I am an enthusiastic and patient person, with a friendly and pragmatic approach to tutoring and exam preparation. Since I remember clearly the anxieties of public exams, I can easily relate to students` worries and concerns. My main aim is to build confidence in my students so that they are not intimidated by the subject and thus can achieve their target.
Availability: From 14.08.2021, I will be available on weekends and in the afternoons.
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: Throughout my Sixth form and GCSE years, I supported my fellow classmates through their German, and Maths courses. I also helped younger students in school through a lunchtime support club.
During my university career, I tutored a few students in GCSE Maths and German, all of whom found our lessons both enjoyable and useful.
As part of one of my final year modules, I worked in a school in Derbyshire, where I taught German to two different Year 9 groups, and so have recent experience with the UK syllabuses.
Since graduating in 2019, I worked full-time at a Secondary School in Germany, where I taught English and French (alongside other subjects) to a range of students, across different year groups and of differing abilities.
My experience of working with students means I can easily establish a rapport and therefore a good working relationship with a new student. We can then move forward, in order to consolidate and extend existing knowledge.
