Information about Shaun

At the relatively young age of 24, I have 16 years of professional singing experience. At the age of 8 I won a place as a Chorister at Westminster Abbey Choir School. There, I sang in daily services of worship, special services and concerts of national importance; on tours around the world; in televised services and in CD recordings. Subsequently, I won a Music Scholarship to The King`s School Canterbury and became a Lay Clerk for the choir of Canterbury Cathedral. What followed was a Gap Year in which I was given the role of Choral Scholar with two Choirs in London; Sloane Square Choral Society and All Saint`s Fulham Parish Choir. During this time, I also taught piano privately to beginners. The following year I accepted my deferred place to read Music at the University of Bristol. The degree was very broad, involving studying music history (from 13th Century to the present day), music theory (harmony, counterpoint and analysis), music composition (pastiche and avante-guarde forms and techniques), vocal performance (for every recital that I have performed for my course, I was awarded a 1st) and studio techniques (recording, production and mixing). Despite living a thoroughly busy double-life heavily involved with the university`s theatre societies - acting, writing and directing music for plays and writing and directing a play that I took to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in my final year - I graduated from the University of Bristol with 2:1 Honours in July 2017.

I have recently returned to my bases in both Bristol and London, after a thoroughly enjoyable and fascinating period living in Morocco for 8 months. Since returning, I have been settling back into living in the UK, writing, teaching, singing and attending acting workshops a few evenings a week.

Availability: I am available on Thursdays (all day), Fridays (all day) and Saturdays (Mornings).

Willing to travel: 10 miles

Experience: I having been teaching Piano since my Gap Year, where I taught a few beginner students who were family friends.
Whilst at university, I started teaching singing to fellow students, founded a choir which I conducted and in the summer holidays I worked for the NCS, in the Waltham Forest area, run by The Challenge Network, as a Multi-skilled Practitioner. In my role, I delivered 3-day workshops to groups of 15-17 year olds in the disciplines of samba percussion, drama devising and documentary filmmaking. I then facilitated their use of these skills as a means to engage with the service users of different types of community centre.
Before graduating, I had gained more experience, in the final half of my final year at university, teaching singing and piano in a music shop in North Somerset. There I had taught the widest range of ages, abilities and objectives. After I graduated, I decided to go freelance as a private singing and piano teacher in Bristol. I also hosted composition and music theory workshops for interested peers and had a stint working as a street charity fundraiser, before moving to Casablanca, Morocco to work for 8 months as an English Language Teacher for 1-4 year-olds.
I have recently started teaching singing and drama again at a Saturday drama school in Rotherhithe, London.
