Information about Doug
I have 12 years experience of teaching Maths and Physics up to A-level. On top of my day to day teaching job, I have provided 1-1 online and in person tuition for the last 5 years.
I believe it`s vitally important to give clear and detailed explanations along with step by step instructions on tackling problems- this is the approach I take to my teaching. I always strive to ensure students have mastered the basic topics within Maths and Physics to make sure they have the necessary foundations to tackle more complex problems within the subject. I have 8 years experience as an examiner, I actually mark the real GCSE and A-level exams taken by candidates; I know what examiners are looking for, because I am one! I know what is required and what we are aiming to achieve.
I am approachable and friendly and try to create an environment in which students feel comfortable to ask questions and express their ideas.
I drive and am able and willing to travel (within reason and where possible) to your home for tutoring at your convenience on evenings and weekends.

Doug has been an amazing find for our son, year 11. He started working with him regularly in February when he was a fairly strong student and had just got a 6 in his mock exam. He got a 9 in his GCSE. What more to say! Our boy worked hard, and we had felt the teaching standard at his school wasn’t amazing, but Doug took his base talent and hard work and turned him into a 9. Our son talked about his Physics ‘before and after Doug’. He is patient, engaging, talented, and manages to communicate the content in the right way. Our son had other tutors at the sharp end of year 11, but he never minded jumping online with Doug, they were excellent sessions, and he knew he was learning. We highly recommend chatting with Doug.

Doug is an amazing tutor and with his support and excellent teaching methods my son went from a Grade 5 in Physics to receiving a grade 8 in his GCSE. Thank you Doug for everything you have done over the past year. My son thoroughly enjoyed every lesson and began to enjoy the subject thanks to you.
