Information about Ben
Hello! A bit about me: In June 2014, I completed my undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences at New College, Oxford University, a time I very much enjoyed and benefited greatly from. I have since been fortunate to work in a number of interesting roles, ranging from being an English Language Assistant for the Adult Learning Centre, working within the Oxford Bodleian Libraries and now currently a volunteer for the healthcare charity `Doctors of the World` (Médecins du Monde) as a researcher and support worker.
Outside of my working life, I have great interest in pursuing independent reading and study, specifically within the realms of politics, philosophy and theology. I have many, many hobbies that I would love to pursue further - I would especially like to improve my piano playing and develop my grasp of another language, particularly Spanish. I am never short of things to do!
Availability: I am only available to tutor in Buckinghamshire/Oxfordshire over the next month, after which I am relocating to London! I am free on most week days during the late morning/afternoon and on the weekends (exact timings to be discussed and specified).
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: I have extensive experience individually tutoring a range of students - of different levels with different needs - over the last three years. The subjects I focus on are: Chemistry, Physics, Biology and Maths (with regards to Maths, I completed Further Maths AS Level at School - achieving an A Grade, prior to A*s being awarded - and received a Gold Award for the Senior Maths Challenge).
Alongside my direct tutoring experience, I have worked extensively with young children, school and University students and adult learners. I have worked repeatedly as a summer camp leader for primary school children and also for the `Oxford Royale` Summer School, providing support to students aged 16-18 from all over the world. Last year, I worked as a Church-study group leader, leading a group of 8-10 Oxford undergraduates in biblical studies, whilst also volunteering two days a week as an Language Assistant, assisting adult learners to develop their English skills.
All told, I have useful experience teaching students of enormously different ages, abilities and backgrounds.
