Information about Karen
Being a maths specialist and qualified teacher I am able to help students of all abilities to improve their understanding and enjoyment of maths. I am a mum of two girls aged 21 and 18 and as such understand the anxieties of teenagers when it comes to the struggles they sometimes have with their confidence when studying maths.
Availability: Most afternoons and evenings and weekdays
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: I am a Maths graduate and qualified teacher with twenty six years experience teaching maths at all levels from numeracy, GCSE, A level and foundation degree level maths for engineers. I have taught in inner city schools, the independent sector and Further Education. I am passionate about maths and enjoy the challenge of helping others to enjoy it too. I have an excellent track record of helping students to achieve the grade they are looking for. I would like to teach pupils at KS3 or KS4, GCSE.

This review is long overdue, but Karen is the reason my daughter passed her GCSE. It was not really a question of ability but my daughter has had a blindspot about maths since something didn`t click in Year 4 primary school. Despite giving her some tutoring in Year 6 with a local 6th former, she lost her confidence about the subject and this persisted. Then the Government decided that people had to keep taking Maths until they got it and I decided I needed to intervene. I found Karen on Tutor Hunt and I`ve never seen someone work with my daughter so well. They even laughed in maths lessons and Karen rehearsed mathematical concepts until my daughter was fluent and worked through lots of questions. Mostly she just challenged her negative mindset about maths. I wish I had found her years earlier. My daughter got a 5 for her GCSE - so thank you Karen!

Karen has now completed a series of sessions with our Student at home and we are delighted. Karen has prepared our Student very well indeed, growing their technical skills, exam technique and confidence and encouraging and pushing all the way, with the right balance. We are obviously looking forward to the GCSE results. Happy customer.
