Information about Rosie
I`m chatty and friendly, and really believe that everybody can love Maths and Science. I`ve tutored students in Maths, Physics and Chemistry, and taught catch-up Maths to whole secondary school classes.
I did my Maths degree 7 years ago at Durham University (and got a first - yay). Since I left university I`ve mainly been working in finance and now I`m starting my own company to help people manage their money and pensions.
Availability: Flexible and available daytimes, evenings or weekends. Just chat and we can check it works for both of us.
Willing to travel: 4 miles
Experience: I did the Student Associate Scheme whilst at university. It was a government-run scheme to train university students in some teaching skills. Part of the programme involved teaching Physics and Maths lessons in a local school. The initiative aimed to raise aspirations and increase numbers of pupils going on to higher education from Durham County.
I tutored three separate GCSE students in Physics, Chemistry and Maths for 2 hours weekly. All of my students raised their grades (and liked the subjects more because of my teaching, so they told me!)
I taught Maths weekly to students who had previously failed SATS exams and had a mandatory remedial class. I tried to motivate and engage the students in my lessons, and the school saw their best exam results to date in those re-sits.
