Information about Mel

I am a dedicated primary school teacher with extensive experience across the primary range, including special educational needs (SEN).
My goal is to make learning both enjoyable and engaging allowing each student to reach their full potential an experience success.
I believe that children thrive when they are deeply involved in their learning journey, so I focus on identifying the most effective starting point for each student and supporting their growth from there. The most rewarding moments are when a child has mastered a concept and can apply it independently.
I have taught a diverse range of subjects and have worked with SEN classes, where I am committed to ensuring that every child progresses and feels accomplished.

I have extensive teaching experience across various educational settings.

For two years, I taught a mainstream year 2 class, customising lesson plans to accommodate a range of abilities and supporting the entire class through their SATs.

Following that, I taught years 3 and 4 in a mainstream school, addressing individual students` needs by planning and implementing targeted learning opportunities to ensure their progress.

I then spent 9 years teaching in a complex needs resource base. This role was highly rewarding as it allowed me to deeply engage with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and the unique challenges faced by students with additional needs. My role involved supporting a diverse range of students and finding effective strategies to help them succeed. during this time, I also achieved me SENCo accreditation, which enabled me to further support students and their families to reach their full potential.

Currently, I am teaching in alternative provision. While this setting differs from my previous experiences, it continues to be both rewarding and fulfilling.
