Information about Jon
TUTORING VIA ZOOM OR IN PERSON
I am passionate about achievement.
GCSE and A level and the gateways to future choice: Good grades open doors!
I taught all three Sciences and Maths in mainstream 11-18 schools in England and Wales for 25 years; my last teaching post was as Head of Science in a large comprehensive school. Whilst there I spent my time entirely focused on the aim of getting students to pass exams with the highest grade possible.
I like to inspire students with a love of Science and Maths but the reality is that you need the very best exam results that you can get to give you the best possible life chances.
My strategy is to focus on the exam skills that you need, skills that are often not taught in school. I will show you how to read the question and get inside the mind of the examiner. At the same time I will help you to understand what you already know, to plug the gaps in your knowledge, to link the different strands of your knowledge together and find out that science and maths can actually be fun!!
You will leave the process more confident and better prepared.
My lessons draw on a variety of resources, but I mostly work from your own texts to avoid confusion.
There will be no commitment to continue sessions after the first one but the most effective use of tutoring is to agree a course of sessions so that we can put together a scheme of work and build towards your success.
Availability: AVAILABLE VIA ZOOM OR IN PERSON
