I have had a passion for English since a very young age and have always brought this passion with me into a classroom. Whilst travelling in my early 20s, I taught English to foreign students and this lit the flame for my desire to teach English to teenagers.

My experience from teaching English has taught me that every pupil has a unique way of learning and once this has been identified, the possibilities are endless. In my teaching experience, I taught a range of pupils working at all different levels. Breaking down and understanding Shakespeare was a challenge for some, but once we had discussed what was happening in the plays, many students developed a love for them.

I have also tutored pupils with a range of abilities and together we were able to tailor lessons to suit their needs and work our way through the curriculum. Their understanding of what was needed for the exam grew in every lesson and they gradually became more confident with the content we were working with. They all passed their GCSEs with a grade higher than they had been predicted.

Breaking down the barriers of understanding the English curriculum is what we would focus on and this would be adapted to suit the pupil`s needs. Once this is done - passing the exam becomes a lot easier!

Availability: Weekday evenings - 7pm onwards.

Experience: Experienced English teacher who taught age group 11-16 for 6 years. I was also the Literacy Lead Teacher. My pass rate for GCSE was on average 85% and above (in a mixed ability environment so teaching pupils achieving grades A* to F). I also have experience in one-to-one tuition with pupils of all ages and abilities.
