Experience: I`ve tutored a variety of different ages which has given me invaluable experience in nurturing progress in all different areas of academia. From September 2019 up to October 2019, I tutored on a weekly basis for a four year old child. To stimulate such a young child, we played story games with and I helped with and oversaw his writing exercises. I also worked with his older sister, who was 10 at the time, with her 11+ Maths and English workbook exercises.

During the summer of 2018, I worked on a voluntary basis as a teaching assistant, teaching Advanced English to students aged 10 - 14 years old at a local school in Russia. My roles included one to one tuition with under-performing students. I also assigned and marked homework, kept records and was responsible for reporting to the teachers on students` progress.

Recently, at the beginning of the pandemic, I tutored two girls, ages 11 and 9, virtually, in Mathematics, Poetry, and Verbal and Non-verbal reasoning. This virtual learning helped me to become highly attuned to the mood of the child in order to understand how they were progressing through the lessons. In September, I began tutoring the same 11 year old with a focus on preparing her for an upcoming 13+ interview. We practiced several mock interviews and I was able to familiarise her with common questions and help expand her answers. I was also able to develop her knowledge of current affairs and her ability to summarise key global and domestic events, confidently. I also provided a unique insight into the style of current affairs questions that might be geared towards her. For example, we practiced analysing a news paper headline or a front page photo. The interview also included a humanities assessment, with the task of giving a short presentation on a particular question. I worked with her on structuring the presentation so she clearly demonstrated her ability to research, argue her point, provide an evaluation and a conclusion.

In November, I began tutoring two children, ages 9 and 11, in Maths and English virtually. Eliza, the eldest, required help with reading comprehension and composition exercises, as she was stronger in Maths. But I did help build on some areas in Maths which needed a little more attention, specifically Algebra. Hector was a slow-learner and required a significant amount of support with Maths and English. I gathered the areas in his syllabus he most struggled with and worked on these topics with him. He also brought unfinished classwork to his lessons for additional help.

In January, I began helping with the homeschooling of two young children, ages 8 and 5, for a busy mother of 4 who couldn`t help coach them through their work personally. I helped both children during the week from 9:30 - 12:30. I completed classwork with the elder child and explained and helped him with work set for home learning in Maths and English. With the younger child, we focused on phonetics and so I read with him, helping him sound out words and comprehend basic sentences. We also completed classwork together and I set him challenges and extended work based on this.
