Information about Daniel
I am qualified and experienced art teacher based in Solihull. I have practiced many different disciplines, including digital and film photography, figurative and abstract sculpture, casting, woodcut printmaking, woodwork, metalwork, graphic design and computer based arts. I have good technical and observational drawing skills and experience with oils, acrylics and watercolours. Currently I mainly work in wood, constructing human scale sculptural installations alongside printed paper wall-hangings, but I love learning new techniques and experimenting with new materials.
I have taught Art and Photography at GCSE to both AQA and OCR specifications, as well as AS level, A level and Foundation levels. I have also taught Design Technology, Resistant Materials, Product Design, Engineering and IT at KS3 and GCSE.
Availability: Monday to Friday late afternoon and evenings.
Saturday, Sunday and Monday all day.
Willing to travel: 20 miles
Experience: I graduated from Sheffield Hallam University in 2003 with a 2:1 in Fine Art with Sculpture, then I studied for my PGCE in Further Education at Reading University. Following this I spent 7 years overseas, in Africa and Asia, working for the British Council in various roles, mainly teaching English to adults and running teacher training sessions. In 2012 I returned to the UK and started an MA in Art Practice and Education, which I completed with Distinction.
I have taught painting and craft to KS2, run workshops for KS3 and KS4 art students and was a teacher on the Foundation Diploma course at Surrey Institute of Art and Design (SIAD) during my PGCE.
I now have 4 years experience teaching in UK schools and colleges, and every school I have worked at has requested for me to return. I have designed and delivered complete KS3, KS4 and KS5 schemes of work, and successfully worked to turn around groups of under-achieving KS4 and KS5 students. I`m currrently employed nearly full time at a very high attaining art department in one of the best schools in Warwickshire.
