Hi there!

My name is James and I am a professional London-based tutor who specialises in English, History and the Humanities. I graduated from the University of Cambridge last year with a degree in English and have been tutoring ever since! I also work in schools in and around London as a Teaching Assistant, working one-on-one with learners. I am a flexible teacher and sessions with me may be content-focused or aimed at improving key skills such as text analysis or examination technique __ whatever will be most useful for the individual student!
I am also an actor, writer and comedian and am therefore well-placed to assist students who aim to improve their creative writing, or need tuition in drama.

In addition, I am an experienced editor and proof-reader, a skill that will help me to support students who want assistance with essay-writing.

Availability: I am available on weekends and weekday afternoons and evenings! I am willing to work around parents` and students` schedules.
I also have a great deal of experience tutoring via Skype, if that suits you better.

Experience: I am currently working as a Professional English, History and Humanities Tutor with a number of prestigious agencies, including Pembroke Tutors and Kings Tutors. In addition, I work as a Teaching Assistant in and around London. I have experience working with young children and children with special educational needs (SEN). I have tutored students in 11+, 13+, GCSE, iGCSE, A-Level and IB. I have also helped a number of students prepare for Oxford and Cambridge admission tests and interviews.

Last year I graduated from the University of Cambridge with a degree in English. I was made a Junior Scholar of Trinity College after my first year exams. Prior to Cambridge, I attained three A-Levels: two A*s in English and History, and an A in French.

I have worked with children since I was at secondary school, supporting younger students with revision and homework, and coaching students in sports on the weekend.

Furthermore, I am an experienced actor and writer. I was a member of the Cambridge Footlights while at University and have been working consistently as a writer and performer ever since. I am a member of the Soho Theatre Young Company and am currently preparing for my third Edinburgh Fringe Show. I believe my stage experience has greatly informed my appreciation of literature and drama, and I am particularly well-placed to tutor students in writing, creative writing and the performing arts.
