Information about Eleanor
Hello! My name is Eleanor and I am a professional classical singer who loves to teach too! I am a passionate, enthusiastic and supportive teacher with many years of experience in both teaching and performing.
- Which subjects do you teach?
I teach voice and piano lessons to all levels of ability, from very beginners to far advanced.
Whilst I was classically trained in voice, I have taught singers in many different styles, including musical theatre and pop style voices.
Piano was my first love and as such I love to teach piano as well as singing. As part of piano lessons I always try to fit in some theory too, something which I feel is sadly skipped over too often.
Having had extensive experience in performance during my own singing career, I can provide lessons in performance skills and presentation, which may be particularly useful if you are looking for lessons in the run up to an audition.
Availability: My schedule can change from week to week as I still perform as a soloist, so I teach all days of the week to be as available as possible. Let me know your best days and times and let`s see if we can make it work!
Willing to travel: 10 miles
Experience: - Tell me about your qualifications.
- MMus in Vocal and Opera Studies, Royal Northern College of Music (2010-2012)
- BMus Hons, University of Manchester (2007-2010)
- Grade 8 Voice (Soprano)
- Grades 4,7,8 Piano
- Grade 5 Theory
- How much do you charge?
I charge £40 an hour, £35 for 45 mins, £30 for 30 mins. An hour long lesson can also be shared by two people (for example, if you have two children who both would like a lesson of half an hour each) without any extra cost.
- Where do you teach?
If you have a suitable instrument in your home I am happy to travel in order to teach at your home. It`s important to have an instrument in your home if you intend on learning piano as practising on your own during the week is very important to make progress during lessons.
However, if you don`t have a piano or keyboard at your home and you want to try it out first to see if you want to continue, you can come to my home, or at Jaques Samuels Pianos on Edgeware Road where they have many practice rooms.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
Voice - from age 6 upwards, though younger pupils will be taught general musicianship and theory along with simple, fun vocal technique and songs. More serious singing pupils tend to start learning vocal technique from around age 13.
Piano - from 5 upwards.
