Melissa

Hello, my name is Melissa. I have spent the last 25 years teaching and my aim has always been to motivate and engage pupils to enjoy learning, achieve their full potential and believe in themselves.
I am passionate about Mathematics and have considerable experience in teaching it throughout my career so far. I always have a strong focus on learning vs getting the “right answer” and I encourage my learners not to give up and support them with having the confidence to try new strategies if something does not work. Ultimately Maths needs to be taught in a way to make it interesting and fun.
I firmly believe that everyone can do Maths, it is about gaining confidence in your own ability and finding the approach and pace that works for you.

Experience: As a primary School teacher for 20 years, I have a great deal of experience teaching Maths to pupils mainly from Year3 to Year 6. I was also the Maths specialist in my school.
I now work in a Secondary School and my role is specifically to support students with Maths. I run interventions throughout KS3 for students who are struggling with Maths and in KS4 my interventions are to help students with their GCSE. I also deliver 1 to 1 support to pupils and work closely to support those with dyscalculia.
