Information about Susan
I`ve been teaching for over 25 years and am married with a daughter who is 22. I have a lot of patience and especially enjoy working on a 1:1 basis with children. I am particularly skilled and have a lot of experience working with children who have special needs.
I suppose my specialism is in Literacy, but I am able to teach Numeracy and the rest of the primary curriculum. I enjoy a challenge and am used to creating my own materials to help tailor work to a particular child`s needs.
In my spare time I like to walk, read, knit and decorate my home.
I have a current up-to-date DBS certificate, which I can present when we meet.
Availability: Evenings, weekends and most school holiday periods.
I am happy to travel to all students to teach them in their own homes. I currently tutor 9 sessions per week.
Willing to travel: 12 miles
Experience: I would like to introduce myself as an experienced primary teacher. I have been qualified (B.Ed. Hons. Degree) for more than twenty five years and have a great deal of experience teaching children in all Key Stages - mostly as a class teacher. I have taught Nursery, Reception Class, Y1 and Y2. I have also worked in Y3 and Y5 as a class teacher. When I have not had my own class I have done PPA cover or have boosted children`s writing and phonic skills (fully Sounds-Write trained), involving children from Y1-Y6. I have also worked a lot with children on a 1:1 basis and am very skilled at finding alternative ways to reach a child who might not be achieving to the best of their ability.
A particular interest of mine is the subject of Literacy. I have a great passion for improving childrens skills, particularly in reading and writing. In the past, I have worked as Literacy subject leader for 10 years.
I have a lot of experience teaching children with SEN and complex medical needs and have worked successfully with children who have behavioural difficulties.
