Information about Joel
I am a professional conductor and cellist based in London. I gained a double starred first in Music from Cambridge University, twice achieving the highest mark in my year, and an MA with Distinction from the Royal Academy of Music. I have extensive performing experience as a cellist and a rapidly developing, high-level career as a conductor, having recently conducted many leading orchestras.
I have built up a portfolio of strong teaching experience in academic music (GCSE to undergraduate level), music theory (all grades) and cello (all grades) as well as help with university applications. I really enjoy helping students not only achieve their goals in whatever exam they may be working towards but also developing their broader understanding of music beyond the narrow confines of the syllabus. Whether teaching theoretically or practically, I enjoy explaining the complex inner workings of music in simple terms and locating it in its broader cultural contexts.
Availability: Weekday evenings, weekends, and some weekday times.
