I delight in supporting the learning of teenagers and Primary aged children. As an experienced teacher I have seen students of all abilities increase in confidence and start believing they can solve a problem or plan an essay.
I continue to develop activities to promote learning, tailored for each student. When they arrive with concerns about a Science ISA, a History essay or understanding a poem, we change plans and address the immediate need, whilst developing essential skills.
I have taught Mathematics in both Primary and Secondary Schools to A-Level, including Further Maths and entrance examinations. We revisit the basic concepts, making memory prompts with annotated cards or Powerpoint. I believe in starting with the student`s known areas of weakness but incorporate practice in all relevant topics, focusing on examination problems.
I have tutored adults and children in English, including some with Dyslexia. All have made progress in reading, writing, spelling, punctuation and grammar and have increased in self-esteem and academic achievement.
The new GCSE demands excellent revision skills. Texts in English Literature require focused tuition to enable students to remember the numerous themes, relationships and use of literary devices and then compare with a similar text they have studied. My CELTA qualification enables me to teach English to international students.
In Study Support I have given students the skills for GCSE revision in all subjects and seen increased grades. I enjoy seeing people of all ages become more motivated to develop their skills and reach their potential.

Availability: I am available most days after school and evenings, teaching from my home. I provide refreshments in a peaceful lounge for parents, Wi-Fi and toys for other family members. Some enjoy relaxing in our garden or walk on the nearby footpaths.
