Passion for Teaching

As a qualified English teacher, I am passionate about helping students unlock their full potential. I believe that every learner is capable of excelling when given the right guidance, encouragement, and resources. Tutoring allows me to see firsthand how personalised support can transform a student’s confidence, skills, and outlook on learning.

Teaching Style and Lesson Approach

In my lessons, I focus on creating a supportive and engaging environment where students feel comfortable expressing themselves. Each session is tailored to the student’s individual needs, whether they’re preparing for exams, improving their writing, or mastering grammar and vocabulary. A typical lesson begins with a quick review of prior material, followed by targeted activities that address the student’s goals, and ends with feedback and actionable steps for improvement. Students can expect interactive tasks, thought-provoking discussions, and plenty of encouragement along the way.

Qualifications and Expertise
• Qualified English Teacher with a PGDE.
• Specialist in teaching GCSE and A-Level English Literature and Language.
• In-depth knowledge of AQA, Edexcel, and other exam boards.
• Experience working with EAL learners to build fluency and confidence.
• Skilled in teaching creative writing, essay structure, poetry analysis, and Shakespeare.

A Rewarding Experience

One of the most rewarding moments as a tutor was helping a Year 11 student who struggled with essay writing. Together, we worked on breaking down essay questions, structuring arguments, and refining their use of evidence. By the end of our sessions, the student not only improved their grades (they went from a grade 4 to a grade 7) but also said they felt “proud” of their writing for the first time—a moment that underscored why I love teaching.
