I am a friendly, experienced Head of English with outstanding results.
After becoming a first time mum last summer, I am now working part-time at MET (Northbrook) college as an English Lecturer, near to my home in Worthing. My 1:1 tuition programme is tightly focused on ensuring my students gain a 4+ at GCSE English Language and I currently have a 100% pass rate.
Success stories from Academic Year 2018-2019:
Student 1 was a boarder at Steyning Grammar who came to me in December 2018, having achieved a 1+ in his English Language mock exam at school. After two hours per week on my tuition programme, he achieved a level 6 in his June 2019 exams.
Student 2, a student at Durrington High, also came to me in December 2018 with a disappointing set of mock results. He had achieved a 1 in English Language. After just one hour a week on my tuition programme, he achieved a level 5.
Student 3 joined me in January 2019 and was to be entirely home-schooled. She had not been in school for over a year. With three hours a week on my tuition programme she managed to sit both English Literature and Language GCSEs. She achieved a 6 in English Language and a 5 in English Literature.

Your first GCSE session will be a gentle and friendly welcome, in which we focus on identifying your existing areas of strength and those areas that require support. This helps me to create a bespoke programme of study tailored to your individual needs. It will also help us measure your progress over time, build your confidence and ensures a tightly focused study on your gaps in knowledge.
Each week you will complete exam skills training, practise timed exam questions and receive live feedback focused on how you could improve your answer. We look closely at the examiner marking grid for each question, unpicking the skills to ensure that we are working towards a top level response. Each session ends with improvement and reflection time, ensuring that the newly learnt skills become embedded.
I also work with KS3 students who need a little help to get to where they want to be in English. With these students, I work closely with the school to deliver a "heads up" programme. You will have pre-teaching sessions: I will build your confidence in a topic before you actually visit the topic in school so that you can bound into the classroom feeling like an expert!
