Information about Alexander
I enjoy teaching and getting others excited about science. I have tutored pre-IB and GCSE students in the past and I have co-supervised several BSc, Masters and PhD students during my time at Imperial College. So I have a lot of experience in breaking down complex topics or ideas in order to make them easier to understand.
I believe the best way to teach a difficult subject is to first figure out what the student enjoys most about it and build on that to help them learn about those aspects that they find more challenging or less interesting.
Understanding complexities in biology, particularly those of the brain, has always been a passion of mine. That is why I went to UCL for a BSc in Neuroscience and then to Imperial College London for an MRes in Experimental Neuroscience and a PhD in Neuro-oncology. Since then I have worked as a Postdoc and I am currently with the National Cancer Research Institute.
I am German, grew up in Spain and have now lived in London for 10 years. I am fluent in English and German, as well as being proficient in Spanish.
In my free time I love to play basketball, which I have been doing since I was 10 years old, and going on adventures with my girlfriend and our Belgian Shepherd, Bentley.
