The first phase of the project was finalised with the MBA dissertation called: A New Strategic Architecture at Matalan plc at Ashcroft International Business School (MBA Program).

I consider that my experience as MBA student at Ashcroft International Business School, Cambridge, UK significantly contributed to the formation of a new mindset. I considered the new mindset as being a set of assumptions concerning those critical success factors that any discipline should carefully address in both theoretical and empirical ways. Any discipline and the science of strategic management particularly should carefully address such issues like the continuing reconsideration of its theoretical and methodological construct. I realized that the mainstream is being influenced by a new so-called "integrated approach" in the science of modern management in which the current economic thoughts are being influenced by a stream of managerial discourses of famous managers (so-called "gurus") from different parts of the world and from various international organizational environments. It is the new way of manifesting the integrated approach on economic as well as managerial thoughts. We are, actually, facing the so-called "managerialism" as one of the most influential factor in the science of management. That is the reason why I started to analyze a wide spectrum of complex and challenging issues as the problematic of structuring different business areas requires a broader perspective within which various levels of business integration along vertical chains should take centre stage on the agenda of managers. A theoretical enquiry into the nature of such complex analysis of business areas should be accompanied by empirical evidence within which such complex pivot concept like the vertical chain would provide theoretical as well as methodological directions for encompassing economic, social and cultural factors in a world confronted with increasing amp

Institute for Quality of Life, Romanian Academy: 11 years experience of research activities in social sciences with a focus on comparative analysis of social policies and welfare regimes in Romania and countries from E.U. I have initiated a research project focused on the new typology of welfare regimes. The last decade of the 20th Century has become a pivotal period in the history of welfare state. The Fall of the Berlin Wall as well as the Revolutions from Central and Eastern Europe have dramatically reconfigured the social conditions of these societies. One of my major concern within this research project is to find out whether the actual theoretical as well as methodological perspectives on the welfare regimes are still valid as sudden and unprecedented societal changes would have had a great impact on the social conditions in this part of the world. It is, actually, a comparative, historical and critical perspective on the theories and methodologies that shaped the doctrine of the modern welfare states in the 20th Century.
