Hello I’m Chris, a highly experienced History teacher, examiner, and academic mentor with nearly a decade of teaching and leadership experience across both the independent and state sectors. I specialise in GCSE, iGCSE, and A-Level History, and I’ve helped hundreds of students grow in confidence, refine their exam technique, and achieve exceptional results.

I currently work as Head of History and Deputy Head of Sixth Form at a leading independent college in London, where I design and deliver challenging, engaging History courses and oversee academic progress across the Sixth Form. My students consistently achieve outstanding outcomes, including a 100% pass rate at iGCSE and strong A-Level results year after year. I bring this same level of dedication, expertise, and support to my private tutoring.

Alongside teaching, I also work as an examiner for Edexcel and AQA, which gives me invaluable insight into what examiners look for and how students can secure the highest marks. I use this knowledge to teach students exactly how to structure essays, interpret sources, apply assessment objectives, and write with clarity and precision; helping them to move from “good” to “top-grade” responses.

My academic background includes a BA in History, a PGCE in secondary education with QTS, and a Master’s degree in History with Intensive Japanese, which I completed with Distinction while working full time. I’m passionate about making History come alive, whether this is through debate, storytelling, source analysis, or helping students connect big ideas across periods and themes.
