I am a qualified English and History teacher with a M.A. and PGCE in Education and a B.A. in English Literature.
I have 27 years experience teaching English Language, English Literature and History at KS2 KS3, GCSE and `A` level. Currently about half of my student are studying KS3/ GCSE English and I have almost as many studying KS2. All of my past students have done well and you can read excellent feedback from them on this site.
I offer preparatory tuition for 11+ and other selective examinations.
I have taught many ESOL/ ESL students over the years. Some of these have been in the UK many years and want to develop their idiomatic and colloquial English. Others are studying more formal grammar based courses at various levels. I produce an individual plan of study for each student, depending on their abilities and needs.
I have substantial experience of teaching English for business, both to MBA university students and to private clients.
I have spent many years teaching academic skills and providing 1-2-1 English tuition in the Higher Education sector. I can help students with their essays, reports, dissertations and presentations. I can also help prepare students for IELTs and interviews.
I provide proof-reading services for private or commercial clients. For example I can correct grammatical or structural mistakes or suggest changes to the presentation of an essay, report or dissertation. This is a bespoke service and prices will vary according to the length and complexity of the text in question.

Mr Trevor is an amazing English tutor. Our 8-year-old son has had great lessons with him. He has been always engaged with lessons quite well and looked forward to them every Monday. Out child started taking lessons from Trevor during the difficult time of COVID-19. He was scared and uncomfortable for his first session; Trevor was skilled in making him comfortable interacting on various topics. Since then, happily taking weekly lessons from Trevor for the past six months. We have noticed an improvement in our child`s confidence level, a better vocabulary and improved writing abilities. Trevor has really helped my son and his GCSE preparation. In a short time the structure of his written answers [and even social verbal explanations] has improved significantly. My son tends to hold the tutor session on speaker, as opposed to headset, and as a consequence I have listened to some and would say Trevor takes a real interest in the pupil, taking time to understand him and his needs.
